Live Chat FAQs

Welcome to Live Chat. Before starting a Live Chat with an ISSC staff member, please review the following information for answers to common questions.

ISSC Live Chat is available Monday through Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. (Arizona time). Please refer to the ASU holiday calendar, as the ISSC will be closed during these observed holidays.

ISSC Live Chat allows you to connect with an ISSC staff member for quick questions. If you have a complex situation, please make an appointment with an ISSC staff member. You can make an appointment here.

You can also visit the ISSC in person. We are providing limited in-person services at this time due to COVID-19.

Can I pick up my I-20 or DS-2019 from the ISSC?

Can I pick up my I-20 or DS-2019 from the ISSC?

As per COVID-19 guidance from SEVP, the ISSC will temporarily be emailing all I-20s to F-1 students' email addresses as listed in SEVIS and therefore will not offer in person I-20 pick-up service. These I-20s will be digitally signed by a DSO and must be printed and signed by you to make them official. If you do not have access to a printer, please see our website for options to receive a printed copy of your electronically sent I-20.

Due to Department of State requirements, J-1 students can pick up their DS-2019 and other documents from our ISSC Tempe office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. J-1 students may also have their documents mailed to them. Please see our website for mailing options.

If you need to apply for a social security number, please visit our Social Security number webpage. If you are employed by ASU, Follett Bookstore or Aramark, you will need to have a certified employer offer letter approved by the ISSC.

Unfortunately, no ASU staff member is able to provide personal assistance with the completion of tax compliance while in their official roles at ASU, including acting as tax consultants or providing tax advice related to the completion of the forms. The ISSC can only remove holds that the ISSC places on your account. Please check the hold by clicking on the title to view instructions and to see who you must contact in order to have the hold removed.

I am a sponsored student and see charges or a financial hold on my account. What should I do?

For questions regarding your student financial account, please email Student Business Services at sponsorbilling@asu.edu. You may also review our website for more information. Remember that your financial guarantee on file with ASU must be valid at all times and your sponsor may not pay for all charges on your student financial account (e.g., parking, late fees, health services, Sun Card purchase, etc.).
