On-Campus Employment Work Hours Reminder
As the summer semester comes to a close and the fall 2026 semester at Arizona State University approaches, we want to remind international students working on campus about important work hour limits for the week of August 17–23:
- International students may work up to 40 hours per week on campus during official university breaks (e.g., summer break).
- During the fall and spring semesters, students are limited to 20 hours per week for on-campus employment.
- The fall 2026 semester begins Thursday, August 20.
- Because the semester starts midweek, the entire week of August 17–23 is considered part of the academic term.
- Therefore, you may only work up to 20 hours total during the week of August 17–23.
- You cannot average your hours over the two-week ASU pay period.
- For example, working 18 hours one week and 22 hours the next is not allowed.
- Working more than 20 hours per week on campus during the semester is a violation of your immigration status.
- You cannot average your hours over the two-week ASU pay period.
- Working off campus without proper authorization also violates your status and could have serious consequences.
