Learn more about Social Security requirements

Representatives from the Social Security Administration will be on the Tempe campus to accept Social Security number applications from international students. Plan to stop by if you need a Social Security number.

 

Wednesday, Jan. 29

9 a.m–1 p.m.

Memorial Union, Union Stage, lower level 085

 

Your application will be accepted only if you meet the following requirements:

 

  • You have obtained an on-campus job.

  • You have not applied for a Social Security number in the past.

  • Your employment offer letter has been certified by the International Scholars and Students Center. 

 

If you are interested in attending this event, the last day to have your employment offer letter certified by the ISSC is Tuesday, Jan. 28 by noon. For further instructions on how to begin the Social Security number application process, please visit our website.  

 

To attend this event, you must register by 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27.

In addition to your completed application, you must bring two copies of each of the following documents to the event:

  

  • Original employment offer letter certified by ISSC.

  • I-20 or DS-2019.

  • I-94 form (print the form).

  • Passport.

  • F-1 or J-1 visa including admission stamp. 

  • Page 5 of your completed SSA application.

 

Applications with incomplete documents will not be accepted.
