OPT Reporting

Post-OPT and STEM OPT Reporting Requirements

Setting Up Your SEVP Portal Account on Post OPT

If you're currently on Post-Completion Optional Practical Training (OPT), the SEVP Portal is an essential tool for maintaining your F-1 status. It allows you to report required information directly to SEVP without needing to go through your Designated School Official (DSO).

What can you report through the SEVP Portal?

  • U.S. residential address
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Employer name and address

How and when will you gain access?

Within 72 hours of your EAD card start date, you’ll receive an email invitation from [email protected] at your ASU email address. This message will include a link and instructions for creating your SEVP Portal account.

Please note:

  • The SEVP Portal cannot be forwarded to a non-ASU email.
  • There is no cost to set up or use the portal.
  • If you do not see the email, check your My ASU Profile tab to ensure your ASU email is active and not set to forward.

Need help getting started?

Visit the SEVP Portal Student User Guide for detailed instructions on account creation and usage.

Maintaining accurate information in the SEVP Portal is a required part of your OPT reporting responsibilities, so we encourage you to activate your account as soon as you receive the invitation email.
