Tax filing deadline is approaching

The International Students and Scholars Center would like to remind you that there is only one month left until the April 18 tax filing deadline.

As you know, all international students and scholars have a filing obligation with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. You must complete and submit tax forms to the IRS if you lived in the U.S. for any part of 2022, regardless of whether you earned income or not.

Arizona State University has arranged for individuals to use Sprintax Tax Preparation, which is a preparation software for tax filing for nonresidents. Join us for our VITA tax filing webinars to gain assistance with filing your tax returns.

You are not required to use Sprintax for your federal or state returns. However, please note that other tax preparation software, such as TurboTax or TaxAct, does not allow individuals to file nonresident tax forms, so many international students are not able to use those software programs. Only visa holders that are identified as residents for tax purposes should use tax preparation software like TurboTax or TaxAct.
