Arizona State University requires that international students have adequate medical and accident insurance coverage. The following health insurance policies affect sponsored students:
Sponsored students with ASU approved sponsor insurance coverage and valid financial guarantee on file with Student Business Services will be automatically exempt from being enrolled in the Arizona Board of Regents Student Health Insurance Plan for the current semester. All other sponsored students will be automatically charged for ASU insurance.
To be eligible for the automatic exemption, you must ensure that Student Business Services has your most updated financial guarantee. You may send your new or updated financial guarantee to Student Business Services and the ISSC.
ASU Health Services reserves the right to verify benefits and coverage periods with each sponsor.
For complete lists of ASU Approved Sponsors, please go to ASU Health Services Resources for International Students.
If your sponsor does not appear on the list above and you feel you should be exempt, notify the ASU Health Insurance office at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible and no later than two weeks after school starts.
If your sponsor is on the approved list and your insurance still shows as billed to you in My ASU under Finances, notify Student Business Services as soon as possible and no later than two weeks after school starts. Email email@example.com or visit them in-person in the Student Services Building, 2nd floor.
