Important reminder regarding on-campus work eligibility

Just a reminder—if you are an F-1 student, you can work on campus while taking classes at ASU. This is a great way to gain work experience and earn money to support your studies.

Here are the work limits:

  • During the spring and fall semesters, you can work up to 20 hours per week.
  • You cannot average your hours across weeks (e.g., working 18 hours one week and 22 the next is not allowed).
  • The last day of the spring 2026 semester is May 09, 2026, and you must follow the 20-hour limit until then.

Exception: During spring break (March 9-15), you can work up to 40 hours that week.

Make sure to track your hours carefully. Even working one extra hour over the limit can violate your F-1 immigration status.

Working off-campus without permission is NOT allowed

This includes jobs at local businesses like restaurants, gas stations, or retail stores, even if the work is unpaid. Working off-campus without authorization can risk your immigration status. If you need permission to work off-campus, check our website for guidance.
