optReminder

Greetings from the International Students and Scholars Center at Arizona State University. We are reaching out to all students who may be graduating in either fall 2023 or spring 2024 to assist you with starting your search for Optional Practical Training opportunities once you graduate. If you are not graduating in the next semester, do not worry — you can still use these resources.

Once you receive your EAD card and the “valid from” date on it occurs, you will begin to use your 90 days days of unemployment until you report employment in your SEVP Portal account. Please remember you cannot begin working in any capacity, which includes volunteering, until the “valid from” date on your EAD card occurs. Don’t forget to upload a copy of your EAD card to the ISSC eForm portal.

There are several ways to explore temporary and long-term employment to avoid accumulating your unemployment days:

Lastly, consider uploading your resume to the Resume Exchange to become more visible to university departments interested in hiring students authorized for Post-OPT.

Please note that submitting your resume for inclusion in this exchange does not guarantee a role will be offered. Rather, it is one strategy for connecting with ASU departments that have OPT opportunities available.

We wish you the best of luck as you join the workforce!
