Important reminder regarding on-campus work eligibility

Greetings from the International Students and Scholars Center.

As a reminder, F-1 visa holders in the U.S. are eligible to work on campus while enrolled in classes at ASU. On-campus work provides valuable professional experience and allows you to earn money to support your studies.

During the spring and fall semesters, you may not work more than 20 hours per week, and you may not average the 20 hours between multiple weeks. For example, working 18 hours one week and 22 hours in another week is not permitted. Each week, you can work up to 20 hours. The official last day of the spring 2024 semester is May 6, 2024 and you are limited to 20 hours per week until that day.

There is one exception: during the spring break week, you may work up to 40 hours from March 4-10.

Please keep track of your hours to avoid jeopardizing your immigration status. Working more than 20 hours per week, even by one hour, is a violation of your F-1 immigration status.
