East and Southeast Asia Volunteer Program (ESEAVP)

Our mission is to support East/Southeast Asian students in becoming active members of the ASU community by:

  • Improving essential career skills such as public speaking, collaboration, self-advocacy, ownership and media skills
  • Creating bridges to resources and existing relationships to ease access for students to network for job opportunities or volunteer options
  • Hosting the time and space for students to unwind, feel safe and share in cultural experiences and celebrations

Volunteers will:

  • Help new members of the community feel at home, and share tips on life in Arizona as an ASU student
  • Connect resources to the right people and vice versa
  • Develop skills to speak professionally at presentations, as part of panels, and to students, faculty and staff
  • Learn how to plan, execute and coordinate events
  • Build important intercultural and interpersonal communication skills
  • Make lifelong friendships with people all over the world
  • Propose new events and ideas to improve our ongoing program

Volunteers will help in planning and running events such as (but not limited to):

  • Mid-Autumn Festival/Chuseok
  • Pan-Asia Lunar New Year (Tet/Chunjie)
  • Dragon Boat Competition
  • And any cultural events and holidays that you want to celebrate together!

East and Southeast Asian Student Tea House and Podcast Program

The ISSC ESEA Student Tea House and Podcast project aims to enrich the cultural experience of ESEA students in their school life, foster cultural exchanges and communication, and create a positive space for sharing study abroad experiences.

You can be one of our wonderful contributors by providing valuable opportunities to explore fascinating topics, professions, and cultures beyond the regular classroom environment. It can be about a funny story that reflects intercultural nuances, or an important life event that many can relate to.

Our tea house and podcast series is open to everyone, regardless of background or experience. We welcome you to share your unique life or educational experiences, on-campus or off-campus work stories, and the challenges and rewards of cross-cultural interactions.

If you are interested in being one of our guest speakers, we invite you to fill out the form here. This will provide us with some information about you and your proposed topic, which will help us in the selection process. We look forward to receiving your application.

If you are interested in joining the programs mentioned above, please contact the ISSC East/Southeast Asia Student Services Coordinator and team.
