For F-1 and J-1 students beginning their ASU degree on May 18, 2026

According to our records, you were issued an I-20 or DS-2019 from ASU with a program start date of May 18, 2026. Upon your arrival, you must complete the SEVIS New Student Check-in if you fall into any of the following categories:

  • First-time student.
  • Student returning from a semester or more away.
  • Student transferring from Global Launch or another U.S. school.
  • Student transitioning from an online degree program to an in-person program.

If you are able to arrive at ASU and begin the summer 2026 semester by the program start date listed on your I-20 or DS-2019, we want to remind you that this important immigration regulation must be completed by the first day of classes, May 18, 2026.

Once you've arrived in the U.S., you can complete your SEVIS New Student Check-in by May 18, 2026, using your smartphone or computer. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Upload copies of your immigration documents by logging in to My ASU and clicking on Complete SEVIS Check-in under Priority Tasks.
  2. Update your phone number, local U.S. address, and SEVIS (home country) address in My ASU by clicking the Profile tab.
  3. Attend the mandatory New International Student Welcome on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Arizona time) in the Amphitheater room, Student Services Building at Tempe campus. Please register no later than May 12. Upon registration, you'll receive a confirmation email containing event details.
  4. Enroll full time. Please be aware that you must maintain in-person credits throughout the entire summer semester, either during session C or a combination of sessions A and B. You cannot enroll in only in-person classes in session A or B.  Please note that the summer enrollment requirements differ from the fall/spring enrollment requirements.  If you have difficulties finding classes, please contact your academic advising department listed in My ASU for assistance.
