SEVIS Check-in

Arizona State University’s International Students and Scholars Center is excited to welcome you to the Sun Devil family! Upon your arrival in the U.S., you must register in SEVIS to confirm your student status with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

All first-time students, those returning from a semester or more away, or those transferring from Global Launch or another school must complete the SEVIS New Student Check-in upon arrival in the U.S.

According to our records, you have been issued an I-20 or DS-2019 from ASU with a program start date of May 16, 2022. If you are able to arrive at ASU and begin the summer 2022 semester by the program start date listed on your I-20 or DS-2019, we want to remind you that this important immigration regulation must be completed by the first day of classes, May 16, 2022.

After you arrive in the U.S., you can use your smartphone or computer to complete your SEVIS Check-in by May 16, 2022. Report your arrival by following these simple steps:

  1. Upload copies of your immigration documents by logging in to My ASU and clicking on Complete SEVIS Check-in under Priority Tasks.
  2. Update your local U.S. phone number, local U.S. address and SEVIS (home country) address in My ASU by clicking the Profile tab.
  3. Enroll full time. If you have difficulties finding classes, please contact your academic advising department listed in My ASU for assistance.
  4. Attend the mandatory New International Student Arrival Orientation on May 16, 2022 from 5-7:30 p.m.. Please register here as soon as possible or by May 13. A confirmation email with the event details will be sent to you upon registration.

Failure to complete your SEVIS Check-in with the ISSC upon your arrival in the U.S. will result in the loss of your F-1 or J-1 status, and your SEVIS record will be terminated.

J-1 students whose DS-2019s were issued by institutions outside of ASU, such as IIE-Fulbright, LASPAU and AMIDEAST, must report to the officer who signed their DS-2019 for SEVIS program validation.
