ASU offers many academic support resources to help all students succeed both inside and outside of the classroom.

Services are offered on all campus locations and can be accessed online as well. In addition to ISSC’s Let's Chat Series, students are also able to access:


Tutoring

Free tutoring in a variety of subjects is available to all enrolled students at all campuses, offering both online and in-person, small group tutoring on a drop-in basis.

Study Groups —
Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental instruction offers free structured study sessions for select courses, led by specially trained students who have successfully completed the class. Sessions are free to all students.

Writing Centers

Writing Centers offer a dynamic, supportive environment for students at any stage of the writing process. Tutors from a wide range of majors help students sharpen writing skills and gain confidence in their writing.

Graduate Writing Centers

Graduate students can work with graduate writing consultants to sharpen their writing skills and to receive coaching advice about navigating graduate studies.

Pathways for Achieving Student Success

ASU also offers the PASS program where students can refocus on academics and get re-energized to achieve academic goals.

Academic Writing Course

Resource permitting, ASU’s Writing Programs offers a graduate-level writing course for international graduate students for whom English is not the primary language. Use ASU Class Search to enroll in a section of ENG 594: Academic Writing for International Graduate Students.

Academic Mentors

UASP academic skills tutors are ASU students who can help you stay on track, improve academic skills and address any concerns you may have. The peer-to-peer interaction and mentorship create a comfortable, encouraging atmosphere for students seeking assistance.

Global Guides

ASU Global Guides are current domestic and international student leaders who volunteer their time to help new international students transition to life at ASU.

International student instructional videos 

Academic integrity

This support video will address ways that international students can uphold academic integrity by properly summarizing, paraphrasing, quoting and referencing sources that they use for assignments.

Understanding a syllabus

This support video will address what a syllabus is and the importance of reading it.

Discussion board prompts

This support video will address understanding discussion board etiquette and communication as an international student.

Communicating with professors

This support video will address the importance of communicating with professors, and how to communicate with your professors through email and office hours.

Arts and entertainment

This support video will address introducing international students to American culture, such as food, literature, art, music, movies and sports, and the ways international students can adapt to American life.

Negotiation

This support video will address the proper way to discuss your grades with a professor.

Idioms

This support video will address American idioms and how to understand them.

U.S. general facts

This support video will address general facts about the U.S. and ways that students can learn more.

Cultural awareness

This support video will address the differences in cultural awareness surrounding issues of self, power, time and communication.

Family dynamics and individual rights

This support video will address family relationships, and relationships between men and women in the U.S.
