On July 17, 2026, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security published a final rule eliminating Duration of Status for certain nonimmigrant students and exchange visitors. Enrollment information
F-1/J-1 students
As an F-1 or J-1 student, you are expected to meet full-time enrollment requirements to maintain your immigration status. Enrollment requirements vary depending on your academic level and other factors. Under certain circumstances, you may be eligible for a reduced course load.
If you are enrolled full time at ASU during the fall and spring semesters and want to take classes outside ASU, or if you wish to take classes outside ASU during the summer, you must receive permission from ISSC to do so.
