Explorer Buddy Program
The Explorer Buddy Program is a peer-support initiative designed to help new international students transition smoothly into life at Arizona State University. New international students (Explorers) are paired with experienced students (Buddies) who provide guidance, connection, and support during their first semester.
What is the Explorer Buddy Program?
- A structured peer-to-peer program through the International Students and Scholars Center.
- Connects new international students with trained student Buddies.
- Focused on easing academic, social, and cultural transitions.
- Runs during students’ first semester at ASU.
How it works
- Explorers sign up for the program before/at the start of the semester.
- Explorers are matched with a Buddy based on shared interests and background (if applicable).
- Buddies reach out before/at the start of the semester.
- Pairs stay connected through regular check-ins and informal support.
- Students are invited to ISSC-hosted events and gatherings.
