Graduate Student Program Completion Date
Choose below the circumstance that most accurately reflects the graduate student's final academic requirement.
Fall/Spring: Program completion date is conferral date of final semester OR last date of session A if only enrolled in session A.
Summer: Program completion date is ASU’s Classes End date of the final session of enrollment.
Fall/Spring: Program completion date is conferral date of final semester OR last date of session A if only enrolled in session A.
Summer: Program completion date is ASU’s Classes End date of the final session of enrollment.
Only requirement in final semester is comprehensive exam
Program completion date is result date of comprehensive exam.
Summer: Program completion date is ASU’s Classes End date of the final session of enrollment.
Only taking session A coursework and comprehensive exam.
Program completion date is result date of the comprehensive exam OR last day of session A, whichever is later.
Summer: Program completion date is ASU’s Classes End date of the final session of enrollment.
Session C coursework or some combination of A & B and comprehensive exam.
*Student cannot be enrolled in session B only.
Program completion date is commencement date of final semester.
Summer: Program completion date is ASU’s Classes End date of the final session of enrollment.
Program completion date is last day of session A.
Summer: Program completion date is ASU’s Classes End date of the final session of enrollment.

Program completion date should reflect the day when the final degree requirement is met. This can be ASU's commencement date in the semester of defense, or the student may choose their defense date. At the very latest, the program completion date cannot be later than the ASU's commencement date for Fall/Spring graduates. For summer: Program completion date cannot be later than ASU's Classes End date of the final session of enrollment. Please consult with your advisor to finalize your program completion date and note that on campus employment ends on your program completion date.
Student required to take 1 credit hour of continuing registration course in semester following defense.
Program completion date should reflect the day when the final degree requirement is met. This can be ASU's commencement date in the semester of defense, or the student may choose their defense date.
